Freeston Enterprise

Brief

A bright new publication was required by the school to go with its specialist status as a Business and Enterprise College in Wakefield. This would use an existing logo and the school’s colours, and would be, in the words of the deputy head, “digestible” and “meaningful”, avoiding jargon wherever possible.

Solution

The news magazine Freeston Enterprise was created after exploratory meetings at the school and a PowerPoint presentation given to all staff on a training day which ensured that they knew all the details on how to comment and contribute. The use of blues and yellows in the design, eye-catching photographs, prominence given to positive comments and statements by staff and students and a lively letter to parents from the headteacher soon made the publication a popular success.

Outcome

Freeston Enterprise has since featured many articles and pictures on the College’s impressive cultural and sporting achievements, especially in the area of business and enterprise.
